Commercial Roofing Materials. Which one is best?

Hey everyone!

Today, I want to talk about something that’s important for anyone who owns or manages a commercial building: roof replacement materials. Choosing the right roofing material for your commercial building is crucial, as it not only protects your property, but also affects your energy efficiency and the overall appearance of your building. In this blog, I’ll be discussing the most popular commercial roof replacement options, and sharing my own opinions and experiences with each one.

First up, we have metal roofing. Metal roofing is a durable and long-lasting option that can withstand harsh weather conditions such as heavy rain and snow. One of the main benefits of metal roofing is that it’s eco-friendly, as it can be recycled at the end of its lifespan. However, metal roofing can be noisy during rain or hail storms, and it may not be the best option for buildings with a more traditional or classic design.

Next, we have TPO (thermoplastic olefin) roofing. TPO is a relatively new roofing material that has quickly gained popularity in the commercial roofing industry. TPO roofing is lightweight, energy-efficient, and easy to install. It’s also less expensive than other roofing materials, which makes it an ideal option for those on a budget. While TPO roofing is a great option for most commercial buildings, it may not be ideal for those in areas with extreme climate conditions.

Another popular roofing material is EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) roofing. EPDM roofing is known for its durability and affordable price point. It’s resistant to many types of damage, including punctures, tears, and fading. EPDM roofing is also eco-friendly, like metal roofing, as it can also be recycled. However, it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing option for buildings with a more modern design.

Finally, we have PVC (polyvinyl chloride) roofing. PVC roofing is a popular option for those looking for a long-lasting roofing solution. It’s resistant to weather damage, chemicals, and fire. PVC roofing is also energy-efficient, as it reflects sunlight and reduces heat absorption. However, PVC roofing can be expensive and may not be the right choice for those on a tight budget.

Overall, choosing the right commercial roof replacement material depends on a variety of factors such as building design, climate conditions, and budget. I’ve personally had experience with all of these roofing materials, and I have to say, TPO roofing is my favorite. It’s affordable, energy-efficient, and easy to install. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors, allowing me to match the roofing to the building design seamlessly.

Before I wrap up this blog, I want to share a fun fact with you. Did you know that the world’s largest rooftop garden is located in Chicago, Illinois? The rooftop garden sits atop Chicago’s City Hall building and spans more than 20,000 square feet.
