4 Things You Can Do for a Smoother Renovation Project

A home renovation is a significant undertaking. Luckily, you can manage it better by doing a few things before the start of the renovations. Oberg Roofing & Remodeling, one of the top roofing companies in the state, lists them down below.
Take Inventory of Your Belongings
Usually, homeowners renovate their homes to increase their functionality or value. But some of your belongings may be misplaced or get damaged in the process. That’s why you need to take inventory of your belongings before the start of renovations. This documentation can come in handy should you need to file an insurance claim later on.
Sort and Declutter
However, you shouldn’t only list down your belongings. You also need to sort them. We suggest sorting them into four piles: donate, sell, hand-me-downs and save. Move the ones you intend to donate or sell out of your home before the renovations start. This will free up space, making it easier for contractors to move around during renovations and reduce the number of things you’ll need to carry back inside once the renovations are done.
Find Enough Storage
Store the things sorted into your sell, hand-me-down and save piles in a guest room, your basement, or a portable storage unit. We recommend renting a storage unit to make sure your belongings aren’t damaged.
Cover Up The Furniture
There should be enough space in a moderately sized storage unit for your home. But if there isn’t or if you don’t have the time to move all of them, cover your remaining furniture and shelves with plastic sheeting. This is to protect them from dust and any possible debris.
Whether you need a gutter or roof replacement, you should only hire a qualified contractor. Asking for references from your friends and family is a good start. But an easier way would be to look for contractors with certifications.
